** A note: This song is dedicated to the groups of people loosely (and pejoratively) referred to as “Gypsies”. As a songwriter, I am sometimes forced to make difficult decisions about which words to use.. knowing full well that their meanings are crucially important. For this song, no other word seemed to capture the spirit of travel, adventure, honesty to one’s inner being and spirit – like the word “Gypsy.” [And it also rhymed much better than “nomad.”] However, I hope that I can bring aware to the crisis that modern-day “Gypsies”, also known as the Roma, face in certain parts of the world, primarily Europe – which is one of persecution and even death, because of their heritage.
I encourage you to further research this and to help support their cause…
